On the road again

I turned in my half-baked papers, sent off my visiting bangalorean exchange students, tried to move some of the food off the kichen counter and into the trash, threw together a too-full bag of clothes and travel 'gear', and headed to the airport.

I'm now on board the pictured British Airlines 747, which will take me to London and then on to Dakar. I will spend a week in Senegal, then another in Mali, before heading to Ghana, possibily by way of Burkina Faso. In Ghana, I will be leading a group of 25 MBA students through the country on a program that will , by example, familiarize students with africa's problems of disorganization and procrastination.

My trip in west africa will be a classic business school boondogle, a plan launched over a beer at a local bar, and brought to fruition via a quick email to some friends: "Who wants to go to Timbuktu?" we don't have any plans beyond what I outlined, and just reserved a hotel this morning.

And I don't speak a lick of french.
