Sitting in Mountain View. Three days left before departure. The only firm parts of the itinerary are my flight to Beijing, the start of Josh's Nepal trek on Sept 4 (which I can also join on the 8th) and then my return on the 19th from Singapore.
I have assiduously made packing lists, spent hours shopping online and made several trips to REI. This is the best packed-trip I will ever have gone on. I'm particularly pleased with my reading list:
- War and Peace
- Tamerlane: Sword of Islam, Conqueror of the World
- Setting the East Ablaze: Lenins Dream of an Empire in Asia (Kodansha Globe)
And, the real gem:
- Hunted Through Central Asia: On the run from Lenin's Secret Police
