Just passed through the border formalities into the "no mans land" between china and kyrgzstan. The road winded up into the dusty reddish brown foothills, where, 4000 miles from beijing, we came across a glittering new boderpost, exactly what you would expect on a minor us-canada post. Complete with glittering a duty free selling scotch and cigarettes...
